With a legacy spanning over 30 years, Te Aranganui a Sydney-based Māori not-for-profit organisation, is dedicated to fostering cultural, linguistic, and community connections for individuals who find themselves away from their homeland of Aotearoa, New Zealand. Our mission is to share enriching cultural knowledge and experiences with diverse audiences, serving as a cultural bridge that connects people to the essence of their heritage and country particularly through the traditional Māori artform of Kapa Haka.
Through a range of workshops and training initiatives, we engage with various communities locally and interstate, working with government organisations, corporate entities, and community groups. Our workshops cover a wide array of Māori cultural aspects, including the powerful art of haka, the rhythmic and expressive poi, as well as advise into cultural safety plans.
At Te Aranganui, we incorporate the traditional Māori artform of Kapa Haka into many of our programs by teaching participants how to make poi, demonstrating the use of different traditional weaponry, and showcasing the beauty of Māori song and dance. These hands-on experiences allow individuals to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Our workshops and training sessions are designed to be inclusive and accessible to anyone interested in learning about Māori culture. We welcome participants from all backgrounds and age groups, tailoring our programs to meet the specific needs and interests of each audience.
Te Aranganui is proud to have ongoing working relationships with esteemed partners such as the NRL, Channel 7, the ACT Government, and the New Zealand Government. These collaborations allow us to reach a wider audience and further promote cultural understanding and appreciation.
Join us on a journey of cultural discovery and connection with Te Aranganui, where we celebrate the richness and diversity of Maori culture while fostering unity and understanding among all people.
